Venezuela Urges US to Lift Sanctions, Open Path for Investment

(MENAFN) Venezuela’s interim President Delcy Rodriguez has called on the United States to remove all sanctions on her country, saying such a move is essential to unlock investment and strengthen long-term cooperation in the energy sector, according to reports.

Her remarks came during a meeting in Caracas with a US delegation led by Kyle Haustveit, an official from the US Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management.

“We insist to President (Donald) Trump that already Venezuela sanctions must cease so that all investments can be developed fully,” Rodriguez said during the meeting.

She argued that lifting restrictions would provide legal certainty for investors and support the development of Venezuela’s hydrocarbons industry, while also laying the foundation for a sustained partnership with Washington.

“We reiterate the need to advance towards a Venezuela free of sanctions, as a means of providing institutional legal certainty to investors coming to our country – a setting where they are guaranteed sustained investment over time and a forward-looking perspective,” she said.

The meeting also included US diplomatic and energy officials as well as representatives from Venezuela’s oil sector, reflecting ongoing engagement between the two sides amid gradual shifts in bilateral relations, according to reports.
